Protect Your Building!

2/18/2020 (Permalink)

If there's one thing you can be certain of, its the fact that there is mold found in every environment — and it's probable that this fact also pertains to your building!

Mold spores reproduce rapidly, which can heighten the likelihood of a person being affected by its potentially harmful contaminants that could be involved with whatever mold is present.

Moisture being present in certain areas could help promote mold growth, as a study conducted by the Institute of Medicine found that excessive dampness indoors encourages the growth of mold and other organisms.

What does this mean for you?

It means that you should get on the phone and call your local SERVPRO franchise professionals to make sure you do not have any harmful contaminants within your building!

Do not let mold take what' yours — call us TODAY for all of your mitigation and remediation needs!

Did you know that prior to listing a property for sale, the following steps can be taken to reduce the potential for moisture buildup or mold growth:

- Correct any water leaks or standing water

- Remove standing water under cooling coils or air handling units.

- Properly maintain humidifiers, if used

- Replace wet or visibly moldy insulation materials

- Steam cleaning and other methods involving moisture should not be used on any kind of duct work

- Install a ventilation system

These steps should help keep mold out of your life!

But if a damage event ever were to occur, a timely response is the key to preventing further damage — act within the first 24 to 48 hours for best results!

And do not forget to call your local SERVPRO professionals so we can make your disaster look "Like it never even happened."

SERVPRO Duct Cleaning

1/22/2020 (Permalink)

There could be years of dust and dirt collecting in ducts inside your home or property, putting yourself and everyone exposed to such contaminants at risk — not to mention, damage could occur within the ducts!

How could you be at risk? Our ventilation systems are often the biggest culprit behind poor indoor air circulation, which should automatically put "getting your ducts checked" at the top of your priority list.

Chances are, your HVAC system has been operating for quite some time without much maintenance; this means that while you go about your days, dirty ducts could have been circulating odors and contaminants throughout the building.

Mold and irritating dust could be spread through these type of occurrences — a huge red flag!

You can count on your local SERVPRO professionals to inspect and clean your ducts!

SERVPRO Safety Tips (Carbon Monoxide)

2/26/2019 (Permalink)

Carbon Monoxide (CO), the colorless and odorless gas that takes roughly 500 people every year, poisons people the most during the winter months. Spreading often due to the usage of gas furnaces, cars, charcoal grills, propane stoves and portable generators — which can be contributed to the cold weather — CO “sends at least 15,000 Americans to the emergency room” (WebMd).

To prevent carbon monoxide in your homes or businesses, consider these options:

  • If you are using a fireplace or plan on having some type of fire in an enclosed space, make sure you allow the smoke and other toxic fumes emitted by fire to be vented to the outside.
  • Do not run vehicles inside confined spaces (ex. Garages).
  • Do not try to heat your home or business using a stove.
  • If you are using generators, grills or any other gas/oil burning machines, do not use them inside your homes or businesses. While outside, though, keep them away from windows.
  • Have a Carbon Monoxide detector installed in your home/business

If you have already been affected by Carbon Monoxide, call your local SERVPRO franchise to have our certified technicians clear out the gasses from your property!

Hydroxyl Generator Systems

2/19/2019 (Permalink)

To ensure that our products rise above our competitors, SERVPRO steadily offers the best pieces of technology when it comes to fire, water, smoke and odor restoration. Resting among other top deodorization systems that SERVPRO provides are Hydroxyls.

Using green technology, Hydroxyls are the industry’s most advanced solution for purifying the air, decontaminating contents and surfaces, as well as eliminating stubborn odors. Hydroxyls, in nature, are molecules that are created in Earth’s atmosphere, which are the byproduct of the sun’s ultraviolet rays and water vapor.

Due to their bacteria killing qualities, they play a critical role in removing viruses and mold, often being referred to as the “detergent” of the atmosphere. Hydroxyls also take part in breaking down volatile organic compounds (VOCs), gases, vapors, chemical fumes and unpleasant odors.

These patented systems use UV technology provided by Odorex, which are scientifically confirmed, field proven and disruptive to all conventional deodorization and cleaning technologies.

While SERVPRO continues to enhance our products, we continue serving our communities with pride, offering the best restoration services across the country. If you are in need of deodorization services or would like to learn more about our products, contact your local SERVPRO today!

Commercial Cleaning Services

Commercial Property Cleaning

To start, water, fire, mold or any other type of damage to any building is never expected or hoped for. However, when these disasters do happen, they affect a business differently than they affect a homeowner.

When an emergency strikes a business, there are numerous things the owner must consider; Are my employees going to be okay? Will they make it through this tough time? How long will my business remain closed and therefore non-profitable? When will I be able to re-open?

Many of these questions can be unnerving and simply too much for a business owner to deal with. In fact, 50% of businesses may never recover after they have suffered a disaster.

To shed some hope though, the SERVPRO of Germantown team is highly trained and equipped to deal with any emergency, any time of the day and any size. We will work diligently to ensure any business can re-open and get back on track.

If you are a business owner and find yourself amidst an emergency situation, call SERVPRO of Germantown: (215)-536-7989.
